HET TUMBA FESTIVAL is een muzikaal evenement, voorafgaand aan carnaval, dat 4 dagen duurt
De eerste 3 dagen zijn om de koning of de koningin van de tumba te kiezen en vrijdag is de dag waarop hij of zij gekozen wordt.
Het is een prachtig festival vol muziek, dans en drankjes de moeite van het kijken waard.

WILLEMSTAD — Centro Sambil, a large Venezuelan chain of shopping malls has far advanced plans to set up a large shopping center on Curaçao. The concern has their eye on a property at Veeris and their representatives already visited the island to consult with the local authorities, the Amigoe understood from several sources.Sambil is originally a Venezuelan company but is now expanding considerably in the Caribbean area. Centro Sambil was once founded by the Venezuelan engineer and executive Salomón Cohen Levy. The first Sambil mall opened in 1998 in Caracas, Venezuela. Since then, the company has opened shopping centers in Valencia, Margarita, Maracaibo, San Cristóbal, Barquisimeto and Punto Fijo-Paraguaná. Sambil will open a mall in St. Domingo, Dominican Republic in October this year. The company now has far advanced plans for a large mall on Curaçao and is attempting to realize their plans also in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Trinidad.
The malls from Sambil are huge with several floors and consist of a large number of shops, cinemas and restaurants. The mall in Caracas is the largest in Venezuela and one of the largest in South America. The five-floor complex measures over 250,000 square meters with at least 430 shops and a four-floor parking lot for approximately 4000 vehicles.
Sambil has several shareholders, of which Cisneros Group is the largest. This group is also known as the owner of the Venezuelan TV-channel Venevisión and responsible for the organization of the Miss Venezuela elections.
